General arguments

here's a list of some general arguments I'd like to see on WJ. I hope this helps you in choosing what to write about.

Java Basics

  • recursion: I'd like to see some examples on recursion for example used in exploring complex data structures
  • generics: examples about how to use them, when to and examples to understand their power
  • data structures: the Java standard API is very complete, but in my opinion always lacked of some basic datastructures, for example the Tree and the Graph Structures.

Java Advanced

  • threads & multi threading: multi threading is always a debated argument in Java, I'd like to see here some articles showing examples of synchronization, processes exchanging messages, general guidelines about how to use threads.
  • reflection: I'd like to see some articles showing how to use reflection.

Java EE

  • simple servlets
  • JNDI: examples for configuring the JNDI in various Application servers, in order for example to activate database connections or specify EJBs.

XML parser

I'd like to see a working example of a XML parser, maybe using Xpath, too!

Something like this: Parsing_an_XML_file_and_getting_info_from_it_via_Xpath?? --DonGiulio 14:41, 10 June 2008 (PDT)

tutorial about ANT

Analyzing classes using Reflection example

I'd like to see an application of reflection for analyzing the structure of classes, giving information like the number of methods, constructors and so on.

Thanks,

Debugging

I'd like to see here an article about debugging in general. Debugging a servlet with tomcat and Eclipse tutorial is a starting point, but I'd like to see more detailed information about how actually debug anything.

Thanks,

SQL Connections

I'd like to see an article about a safe way to manage Database connections, too often programmers forget to close the queries, the sessions and/or the connections. But this is not as easy as it looks, because exceptions can be thrown at each stage of this. and exceptions thrown inside finally blocks are not really something we normally think of.

Thanks,

Open a MIDI file

I've just seen an example about audio (wave, in the 'windows world') files. I think it's going to be useful an example about MIDI files.

Java and XML

Id like to know how its possible to use an XML database, since its portable and can work anywhere, with a java program. The scope is for the java program to be able to update the XML database automatically. I think its better than having to connect to a SQL database everytime

Ajax recurring form items

Hey, love the site! Alright, so I don't know the exact wording for it, but I have this site ApplyMyWay.com that I'm trying to develop. On the application creation pages I'd like for there to be an Ajax element that you could click "add another question" and it pops up another field to add more questions. I know it's possible, I just don't know exactly how to do it myself right now.

It would save me tons of time, and headache to get some help from you! Thanks in advance!
